Grosjean is faster than Petrov. That he replaces him is a good thing at least for lrgp

I feel the same way - I haven't liked this team either but now I'll find myself routing for one of their drivers at least - Kimi.
Strange how things work out.

I expected Grosjean, but I must confess I wanted to see Senna racing. I think Petrov will go to Marussia now, and replace Glock. Williams will be racing with Maldonado and Sutil.

Renault may have shot themselves in the foot.
Now they have 2 clueless drivers.

I susepect petrov will not race in 2012, unless Glock takes a back seat, and that may not be happening.

Sutil may well go to Williams and Hulk gets a seat.

So many ok drivers getting scraped off.
For Sure!!

Yeah, a former grand prix winner, and world champion is clueless =/

A GP2 champion, a driver who has raced in many different categories is pretty clueless too...

Under what circumstances is Kimi clueless? Grosjean too?

They didn't race last year simple.
Both of them will be adjusting to the team and cars, while ferrari and mclaren and mercedes just have to pick up where they left off.
Who are they going to use as the bench mark?
Kimi can't gauge himself off Grosjean and neither can Grosjean guage himself off Kimi.

It's also funny how people realize Grosjean has some use. When he was in F1 people were disparaging him. He was almost the equivalent on Piquet Jr.

Anyway. Grosjean and Kimi to Renault had just ended Kubica's F1 career.
Nail in the coffin. Kimi and Romaine are a good marketing package, and they aren't slouches either.
For Sure!!

They are on the back foot.
That troll image doesn't change that fact. Renault could have brought Senna from the dead and gave him the seat. The gap in time is enough to make a good driver clueless.

Kimi'll be learning the tyres and Romaine will be learning the tyres at every track.
The other drivers have been there done that with the pirelli's DRS and Kers.
For Sure!!

By that token...

Lewis Hamilton (2007): Clueless, never before raced an F1 car.
Lewis Hamilton (2008): Clueless, never before raced an F1 car without TC.
Lewis Hamilton (2009): Clueless, tyres were different + KERS etc
Lewis Hamilton (2010): Clueless, never before raced an F1 car with F-Duct
Lewis Hamilton (2011): Clueless, never raced with DRS before

Your criteria for being clueless seem quite arbitrary ringo... some drivers come into the sport having competed successfully in GP2 (Grosjean, Hamilton, Kovalainen, Rosberg) others come from less conventional routes driving tin tops (Di Resta, Schumacher) and others still come in to the sport with just 23 car races to their name, challenge their more experienced team mate, score on their debut etc etc etc and Kimi Raikkonen can easily adapt to new cars it seems.

Grosjean has more question marks as he didn't cope quite so well in 2009 - however - the GP2 cars he was driving at that time were more like F1 pre 2009 aero spec - different centre of balance etc etc so perhaps this time around Grosjean will adapt better because the difference isn't so different.

Kubica is still more than capable of getting back in to the sport - whether it's with LRGP is another matter.

The Renault R29 he drove was also a complete dog.

The car was rubbish and the Singapore race fix scandal was going on. It was also the first year with on season testing ban.

Then he put his car 3 tenths off Alonso in the first qualifying. I think it was prerry damn impressive at the time.

Megz your point was good but your last three examples are bogus. Everyone had the same problem in 2009 (not quite with KERS admittedly), 2010 and 2011. The point is that Kimi will start behind the game.

It's much easier to beat Trulli than it is to beat Alonso. Also, weren't the two teammates at some point? I seem to remember Koba getting beat by Grosjean in... Gp2?

It was not only that Kobayashi beat Trulli. He put some strong race performances.
Can't say the same thing about Grosjean in 2009. Well, hopefully, he is much stronger now.
