I don't think there will be as much conflict as some suggest. It sounds like Willis is doing what he wants to do. Bell is in a similar position that he's been in before. Costa designed some good mechanically sound Ferraris. He'll be good on that side of things. I see it going rather smoothly.NonNewtonic wrote:Yes indeed Mercedes is the team where the most ex-technical boss working together under one roof! But it seems like none of the other top teams really concern on this issue as most of them are being fired from their previous employer due to lack of performance in the car. And another thing is will there be even more conflict in the team due to the numbers of ex-technical boss working in the same team as all of them have a lot of experience and used to design race winning cars
Hope that you are right we will never know whats happening back in the factorydren wrote:I don't think there will be as much conflict as some suggest. What exactly do you mean?FrukostScones wrote:Hello Mercedes-engineer! Please this time: Build a free floating beam wing!

Beam wing is main rear crash structure? So that will so very difficult!
let's take the word "radical" - By Definition it means:Sam Bird did confirm after the Abu Dhabi test on his twitter page that the new car is well advanced and will be radical
Clearly, what He's actually hinting at is that Mercedes have taken an "Extream" approach on the W03's design.thoroughgoing or extreme, especially as regards change from accepted or traditional forms: a radical change in the policy of a company.
The suspension and radiators - clearly, either they're going for a pull rod layout, or rotary dampers.. Radiators - well they've been with the double-deck design since the 2009 BGP001.. so i'm not gonna speculate what "innovative" can be.MGP W03 chassis with rear suspension has been already prepared in factory for two months and now being fine tuned. And the W03 will be a 'radical' car with innovative radiators layout. - said Sam
ok.. Autosport have the answer to the "tech staff" structuringNonNewtonic wrote:Yes indeed Mercedes is the team where the most ex-technical boss working together under one roof! it's quite interesting to see what's going on here with speculation and counter-speculation.
we can continue arguing or guessing at what Mercedes are on about.
But, I prefer we stick to the facts.

Our Second bit of news - and I'm trying to keep my feet solidly on the ground.

Also, Ross had said in a recent interview on Autosport that the Short wheel-base design didn't pay off, largely due to, yep you guessed it.. EBD, or OTBD etc,
this hurt the tyres massively. Cos the EBD took away the disadvantage of the Longer wheelbase.
Short wheel base meant higher CoG, and that's why the race pace was appalling with the higher fuel loads.
And remember, no EBD next year..
So, with all of this in mind, I'd say that the W03 should have:
1. Pullrod Suspension - or Rotary dampers (see Scarbsf1's article)
2. no Double-deck radiators
3. a slightly longer wheelbase to cope with the CoG problems
4. Possibility of the Front wing F-Duct
5. AMG Logos
one more innovation
