Yes, Hamilton got the pole and Vettel started from second.
Not very clever of Jaime and I don't blame Marko for being pissed off.
I wonder if it was accidental or if there was an element of Jaime maybe trying to challenge Vettel to prove that he has the skills to match but not the car - it seems like Jaime is forcing Vettel very wide around that one corner.
There's lots at stake in F1 and if you're a junior driver in the development team you should know better than to jeopardise pole, which could end up being the difference between 1st and 2nd place in the race, for the senior team.

I still feel that Toro Rosso really should have kept on one of their 2011 drivers, if for nothing else than to have a reference point.
For e.g. if they kept Alguersuari and put Ricciardo next to him they would have a much better picture of how the 2011 drivers performed and how the new guys shape up.They could have dumped Alguersuari mid season if he ended up being trounced by Ricciardo and then stick Vergne in.
As it is now they are exactly back where they were 2 years ago - new young drivers with no constant to compare their performance to.
What's the use of a drivers program if you don't have any clear targets for your drivers to achieve, no way of judging there performance accurately and when you chuck them out after a couple of years with no explanation other than that there are 2 new drivers at the door?

I think they expect consistent points scoring and at least 1 barnstormer of a fith place or sixth place.
That should be enough.

They are looking for the next Hamilton. But i guess they miscalculated how rare those drivers are.

He means that Marko is reminding Alguersuari not to get in the way of Vettel because Vettel is Red Bull's golden child. Red Bull makes sure Mark doesn't get in Vettel's way (British GP '10 & '11) and this video, which shows Marko scolding Alguersuari, shows the Toro Rosso drivers are supposed to get out of the way of Vettel.

Actually it is my bad :)

I thought there was a waved flag at the eight second of the footage though it is just some green fabric in the wind...

That was only a practice session. Hardly worth having a tantrum about it.

oh, come on! It was just practice.... You can't say he lost the pole because jaime slowed him down for a few turns during the practice.

Reports in the Swiss press have linked Sebastien Buemi with the role of Red Bull reserve driver.

Buemi and team-mate Jaime Alguersuari were released by Toro Rosso at the end of last year, with Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne their replacements. The decision to axe the duo was largely unexpected and came at a time when much of the grid had already been confirmed.

As a result, Buemi has few options heading into the 2012 season as he does not appear to be in the running for the remaining race-seats.

One option that may present itself is that of a reserve driver and according to Blick newspaper, Buemi may take up such a role with Red Bull in order to avoid falling out of the F1 set-up completely.

James Allen on his blog stated that Barichello is in the running for the Williams seat. He is rated highly by the engineers for his technical feedback apparently. Sutil is in the mix, but he wants a one year contract so he will have a chance to jump ship to Ferrari the following year. It sounds like Massa is done unless he really impresses in 2013. Senna is an outside bet, but doesn't look promising.

I thought Senna would get the seat, but thinking about it now, I believe Barichello will.

The only way Massa will be staying at Ferrari in 2013 is if he wins the WDC or comes 2nd or 3rd.

Williams should keep Barrichello, he showed what he was capable of in 2009, not the best, but no slouch either. He may have had a bad year in 2011 but what chance did he have in that car anyway! No way is senna better than him.

Slightly left field in terms of sillyness.

It seems that there has been a small exodus of McLaren personnel to Italy. As a matter of interest, does anyone know who at McLaren invented the F-Duct. I remember at the time that he (or she) was never named, but I was wondering if it ever came to light over the last year?
