Ferrari F2012 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Yes; but in 2011 there hadn't been the rule that the cars had to pass the side impact test before testing.

not sure if it will be messier aero wise though.

Pull in the front sounds like a stretch.

Pull rod can be a wire (as it is a tension member) that can be picked up lower like in lower wish bone connector of the twin keel

True but I still think it's far to thin.

That's what I said earlier. I was just telling Owen that it not being there for the first test didn't mean it wasn't a crash structure.

Can you have the girder like snow plough under the nose and mount some of the suspension to the edges of it, like an upside down T keel..?

Interesting but not very relevant. The canards on the fighter are computer controlled to keep the aircraft flying. It would be unable to fly without them.
The blades on the Ferrari are to smooth airflow, and cannot be moved. The car can still 'fly' without these.

Domenicali is already on record as saying this year's ferrari *is* ugly.

so what if its ugly??...the fact that it will probably be ugly has no relevance really to F1!! besides i'm the kind of guy who things that the fact that everything is shaped for a purpose makes it a piece of beauty!!

Totally agree amouzouris.
And things that stand out from the rest makes it interesting in my eyes.
