McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Nice, but not really much we can take from it other than the fact it hasn't got wing mirrors :wtf: ... (I joke lol).

Same 'virtual cover' render as last year - with a different date of course.

Wandered past a beautiful MP4-27 tub in MTC today. Already looking smart - can't wait to see it completed on Feb 1!! #believeinmclaren

These choice of words....
The car is a simple one. Simple and to the point. We have a challenger on our hands. No more gimmicks.
For Sure!!

Wow you can deduce that from words?

I got nothing else to say!
It's still speculation. When renault said brave end of the brave, that's what we got.
So i am assuming there's weight behind the words these guys use.
Williams also used the word agressive, and we got that.

Smart sounds like simple but highly effective.
For Sure!!

We had drastic for the MP4-26 ;). I thought the 25 looked pretty smart myself.

I have no idea how you've come to that conclusion, people always reading to much into simple comments...

That's what I got from it. I think that McLaren are happy with their MP4-26 chassis (as they should be) and went for the "evolutionary" over "revolutionary" approach to their design for 2012.

Well it's reading into something taken from a Mclaren team member. Most of this thread is reading into stuff which doesn't exist; speculation if you will.

I was and still am expecting a car without sidepods.

It would be great if they could create a car that could recover so much heat energy from the engine block and the exhaust, that instead of radiators in the side pods were just 'cold' exhausts and heat energy recovery generators, making the sidepods so small and slender Newey would blow his load over them...

It is only on F1 Technical in the off season that I have ever seen so many grown men get this excitable over A SHEET (and not even a real one at that).

Someone PLEASE launch a car and put an end to this madness!
