CaterhamF1 CT-01 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

YEP i think also this... Sure it is efect on the upper flow, but that is small sacrifice for bigger rear downforce gain (clean under nose flow)... So even this, for manys ugly step have +/-.

The airbox strut design is like Saubers.

The upper front wishbone is set way off horizontal.
Is this how they usually are?
Would this geometry give it anti-dive on braking?

Is this common?

its primary function is to get the wishbones out of the way of the airflow heading toward the splitter.
yes there is some anti dive but the nature of the suspension travel and damper design provides more of that than the suspension geometry

Because this is a digital rendering, so extraneous cameras will have been removed to make the car look sleek for promotional reasons. There's no point in going to all of this effort if the car isn't going to look its best!

When I'm looking at this picture on the Caterham website, I'm really curious about some CFD charts! I really wonder how the airflow copes with the bump on the nose.

The channel on the nose starts deep and gradually fades in order to divert air over the driver helmet

That's exactly what I thought but wasn't too sure.
