I get the bashing but it is a touch harsh!

HRT are milking to Spanish element and good on them for that, but nationalism is not going to get them anything other than back of the grid.

Hope they survive but it seems they are going to be left behind....

We know Pedro is a fantastic test and development driver; and knows how to set up a car well. But I've never heard of Hamilton asking for Pedro. Do you have a source for that?
I'm sorry it is in Spanish:

Knowing that in Spain we are in a huge crisis, there are some of the biggest companies in the world, like Telefonica (now Movistar), Repsol, Iberdrola... I think hiring De la Rosa was a move to try to find an sponsorship from one of this companies. Maybe not for 20 millios a year, but with 10 millions or a bit more will be enough, i think.

Pedro de la Rosa is a great driver and that's why McLaren rehired him from Sauber (Hamilton wanted him on the team). Also, almost every spanish F1 fans love Pedro (he is rated higher than Alonso) and hiring him was a great move from HRT, because that can attract Spanish companies for sponsorship reasons.

I can understand that, but my view is just that there are much better drivers available for the job. Possibly also Spanish.

De LA Rosa is a great development driver, but for races he just isnt quick enough. He can be quick on some basis, like he was when he replaced Montoya for a race, but over the whole season, no he just misses a little bit.

I hope for HRT themselves that they make a better choise for the second driver, but the way it looks now they are going to pick another Kartikeyan.

And as for the crisis you mentioned a bit later. Companies will rather play safe than pump in millions in an f1 team that still hasnt got a secure future. HRT's strategy might work, but it doesnt in current environment, and definately not in a bad market that is still going downwards.

I cant wait to see him again.
Great, that doesnt make him f1 worthy

I can see that, but lets take this;
1. They have to move again soon, reorganising the whole thing again, needing a new workforce once again.
2. How are they going to afford that?

WHy they have to move soon they are good in Valencia yet.

And needing a new workfore one again????? They have all that they need in Valencia.

How ate they going to afford that? I do not know probably with something that is call money. (Now you are going to say that they have not money, but first inform yourself of the money they have to invest)

Since Valencia is a temporary base that gives one the suggestion they will move again soon.

And what when they move to the base in Madrid?

I have seen it multiple times myself, and I can tell you it is not enough. Apart from that, where does all the money come from? There are barely any sponsors for them.

They will try to move in July-Agust.
And what when they move to the base in Madrid?
Move with all the workforce.

Kolles proved more than once that he can get a shoestring team to the grid, and do what it takes (pay drivers) to keep them running.

The fact they even made the 107% rule was incredible to me.

If Kolles was still in charge, I would not be worried. But he isn't.

I hope they turn around and make the grid.

They will hire new people in place of the old ones?

The payroll cost will be the same. They don't have to double up on staff.

Giblet - can we separate the team talk from the car talk? Maybe into its own thread like the Mercedes GP 2011 thread a while back?

Yeah, my bad. These threads as of right now have no car.

Its quite a large amount of work to do so. I feel a better way is to simply lock this thread and rename it "HRT F112 Cosworth(PRE LAUNCH)" then start an actual car thread.

A while back, when BAR555 was regularly doing his "Aero/Mechanical Development" thread for each car, they were locked for the most part, and held almost sacred.

I would love to see something similar. Old wing, new wing. There it is. Discuss it in the car thread, look at it in the Development thread.

This to me is the way to go. We are discussing it behind the scenes as well. There are a lot of ways to do it, just time and implementation is a problem sometimes, and we all know what how useful good intentions are :)

Great then they can start over again

Move with all the workforce.
Unless you asume every person of the team are complete loners and have nothing to search in Valencia anymore I cannot seem to understand how every team member is willing to move by themselves, girlfriends, families or w/e, in a new city at least 300km away.

I know what that is, but they seem to lacking in that too, since if that investment was there they didnt need a temporary base, or could buy out Kolles, retaining staff and facilities.

HRT seems to hope for one big sponsor to just pop up out of thin air. But to achive that you at least have to stand something, have a clear goal and show you are on that road. And they simply arent. So unless they find some sort of irish dwarf on the end of the rainbow with a pot of gold i cannot see how they get this investment.
