CaterhamF1 CT-01 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I reckon it does form down to the step plane at the bottom, you just can't see it in this image?

Ah yeh, that's clearer, it's all the way down to the step plane.

The pictures of new car can be a bit misleading because of shadows but this floor extension could be the same as this one on the old car.

Once you put the bargeboard on they will look even more similar as well. I loved the really undercut sidepods and sculpted floor or last years car. Lets just hope this simpler one is competitive this year.

I hope caterham do a special livery where they put eyes on the V nose and teeth on the flat nose, and create a crocodile, now that would go down in history!

It already has gone down in history - as one of the most ugly F1 cars ever!

The reptile livery was already done by Jordan

Yes but they never had a car that actually looked like said reptile, even without the livery.

Why does the base of the sidepod intake look "wrinkled?" Bad cf layup?

There is also an additional small inlet on the left to cool electronics , which are housed a little above the floor's level and in front of the radiator . This is a common practice and not something new of course .
