CaterhamF1 CT-01 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Perhaps the wrinkle is moire pattern from the radiator fins?

Does it make sense if you see it not as a wrinkled floor, but a wrinkled curtain hanging across the sidepod? That illusion of a curtain being the radiators deep in the pod.

radiator was attached to a duct. the duct usually channel the air into various part of the car, not only radiator.

Hadn't thought of that. Could well be.

Dont forget the radiator is angled forward acutely, so what we see is the base of the radiator which is naturally further back when compared to the front

I just noticed that the lower wishbone arms perpendicular to the chassis are thicker and larger than the others. That means they host the steering arms --> lower COG
The last two Renault featured the same solution.

So did MP4-26 but they revert back on the 27.
Steering arms move a lot. Their position seems more dictated by the aero than the CoG.

Yep... the days when car threads would actually discuss about... you know... just technical details of the cars...

I think the problem is now, with the rule changes from the last couple years we've become acustomed to seeing outrageous innovations from teams. So now you see a car that looks like a generic F1 car, everyone gets all worked up saying its gonnabe rubbish lol

True! We now need to get used to the fact there wont be as many F-duct, DDD or EBD moments, so instinctively, we automatically look for things like this
