with the wishbones sloped down so much, the contact patch moves outward a lot during compression.
i think ferrari compensates for that by:
having the arms converge as they move out toward the wheel, instead of convention which is divergence, having the upper arm longer than the lower arm compounds this;
and running more static negative camber up front.
in bump, some of the negative camber is lost, moving the contact patch inwards. the net effect is still outward, but it is lessened somewhat, and it will help the car handle mid-corner bumps.

Is it just me or does the F2012 actually have more space beneath it than the F150? How is that allowed? I thought the F150 was already exploiting the max bulkhead and nose heights.

Nothing much in terms of technical relevancy here; but I thought the video was interesting nonetheless:

The 150's nose sacrificed a bit of height - 650mm max in 2011 - in favor of a more aerodynamic shape. No such compromise was made for the F2012.

The new rules don't really reduce the nose height. Most teams already had nose tips below the new limit.

its just an illusion because of the different colours

when you compare the noses, the f2012 one is a little bit lower than the f150 one

I showed a couple of pics of the 2012 Ferrari and MacMerc to my wife who is generally not at all interested in any form of motor sports and without any kind of lead up, just said hey honey what do you think of these new F1 cars and started with the MacMerc - her reaction was classic, she called the Macca "pretty" and the Ferrari "ugly", says it all IMO opinion! 8)

The geometry is actually not so extreme. Its a normal rear axle pull rod rotated about 30deg. Thanks to JT for pointing that out to me initially.

Au contraire, I think it's xtreme indeed, this suspension will be dependent on front track-whith increasing to move that shallow-angle pull-rod, can someone please make a geometrical animation to demonstrate this, it's really simple?

It does say it all, and hopefully these ugly years will weed out the weakest links in the fanbase so that mainly the hardcore ones remain. F1 needs a purification as it is.

This car might be quick, top 2 quick, so the nose doesn't matter at all. Hopefully the front and read pull rods function as expected given that they've invested heavily in this.

I'm looking forward to the animation.

vortex generator on the side of the cockpit at 0:42 and 0:56 in the "behind the scenes vid" ?

go at 0:52 and you will see one of the suspension parts with what might be heat coating????

would this even be a possibility...?
air entering there, heating up and then going back creating some downforce?

Sure, absolutely – there's a small radiator at the back there – Tombiaz claimed so that they could make the side pods tighter.

Maybe stupid question (I'm not airo guy) - Is there some significant difference (for airo) if the air which is blobving on some part is hot or not? I mean not exhust gas hot, but just more heater than the ambient temerature? Can this help, or it's the same?

Would there be any benefits to this design over the common V nose other teams are adopting?
