Sauber C31 Ferrari

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

From that angle the sidepods look tiny, but the press shot I have seen from the front makes them appear slightly larger.

Stepped-Nose!

Ok now that that inevitable exclamation of the bleeding obvious has been dealt with, is it just me, or are those sidepods incredibly small?! They look soooo low from that picture!

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Everyone seem to be launching a dummy car..

From sauber website

“The current plan is to launch a fairly basic roll-out version of the car, which was defined quite some time ago. We will then be testing development parts during the upcoming weeks with a late upgrade for the first race on 18th March in Australia. Therefore the car will look quite different in Melbourne compared to the roll-out car.”

The rear of the car is very compact indeed. It's using a pullrod suspension design, obviously due to the changes Ferrari have made this year.

The front most part of the nose is very thin indeed.
