Sauber C31 Ferrari

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In other words, it is much less white than last year, and probably more grey/red highlights like the team wear, because he was getting annoyed with the other team running white cars... So HRT good for something at least =D>
I win "least difficult prediction" :D

Car's looking good, will they be running 2011 or 2012 spec Ferrari engines? Because those side pods are cute

You can't blow wings because outside of the central 150mm, they can't have holes (this would break the 100mm minimum radius rule).

This gap has to be a method of blowing the rear somehow, as no team would leave that kind of paneling on the rear are unless it was on purpose.

Perhaps a different take on the exhaust from the sidepods and airbox and blowing it low.

Well, I'm pretty sure they have to let the hot air out from the radiators somewhere...it appears that they chose this area instead of the central "keyhole" opening from the RB7 or the MP4-27.

Indeed, I hope it provides some good benefit to them, as it appears they're preferring to keep a tight and tall attached flow rather than concentrating it into a core flow that has been done on other cars (I think W01?)

So the outlet really is there at the broken nose. Where does the air come in from in order to exit here?

Could the little nose slot be used to "blow" the upper surface of the nose immediately downsteam of the "step" in an attempt to prevent flow separation at high speeds?

Basically a way to minimise the drag incurred though the design by keeping the flow over the nose attached and reducing turbulant eddy's/eddies (English was never my best subject lol)

EDIT: I've no idea where the inlet for my little theory is though #-o

It could just be a poorly-fitting test nose coupled to a tub not shaped to it, rather than an inlet of some sort?

I wouldn't even expect HRT to have something like that! :?

the comparison of the C31 and the f2012 is interesting. despite of the little angle difference, you see how the design of the cars is close

the scale is good, check the rear wheel, but the angle is a little bit different
