Toro Rosso STR7 Ferrari

I for one hope it pays off in dividends for the team. Ricciardo and EV might have a winner on their hands.

Best handling of the awkward nose rules as well
I agree. the TR was the best looking car last year and now its the best looking this year by a far margin!

They have a pretty good "quasi- double" floor thing going on.
The nose is well thought out too.
The extra air intake ala Mclaren MP4-25 is also very interesting. It seems they have moved some of the cooling loads to the middle of the car. Very smart as it helps reduce the Polar Moment of Inertia.

Well they don't actually have a double floor. They have one floor, and some extremely heavily undercut sidepods. The lower sections of the sidepods aren't a floor. They aren't even horizontal.

Yes, but you generally call it a double floor concept anyways, do you not?

This side pod is more of an extreme undercut type than a pure double floor. In my opinion of course.

I'm not too sure to be honest, I think its a matter of opinion. From my viewpoint the F92A was a true double floor. The whole lower floor section was seperate from the entire sidepods, the aim here was to actually get more air flow under/over the floor or something like that (13 hour shift at work after less than 1.5hours sleep...brain not functioning very well atm lol)

The STR6 & STR7, in my opinion, are "just" (i say in inverted commas because I don't mean to belittle what they have done) heavily undercut in an effort to get even more air flow around the sidepods - same principle of normal undercut sidepods (even like on the Ferrari F2003-GA) but taken to a rather extreme level.

So I think the principle behind the two visually similar ideas is rather different.

I do like the idea of it being a twin floor car though :)

Yeah technically thats correct. The FErrari F92A had a double floor but it created way too much drag and weird flow characteristics.

I'd call the Toro Rosso pods Wedge Undercut or WU for sort :D

I quite like the idea of calling them "floating sidepods" lol

At 0.50 talking about exhausts he says. "I suspect everyone is making the same thing except for one team"

What team is he hintinfg at? Rbr? ferrari? How does he know that?
He said his car is evolution not a revolution, and everybody will be doing that except one team... so it must be Ferrari most likely.

They could be blowing them with the exhaust. Sounds crazy, but i'm going out on a limb with that one.

This car is actually beautiful.

She is deserving of a name i think, something provocative. Perhaps inspired by her dramatic and perfectly shaped curves.

With such a large amount of space under those side pods, would the regulations allow some wings or other aerodynamic devices (maybe to shape the airflow) to be placed under there?
