Would that 1st gear ratio cause any issues at the hairpin on monaco, or is it similar to what the teams would chose anyway for a 1st ratio

Teams were using their clutches and trick ignition timing as a sort of launch control. The timing adjustments are only allowed during and after a gear change. Disallowing all gears but 1st until 100kph eliminates those effects.

What about Whiting's inspection? Has he already done it?

Probably teams were using clever clutch action during upshift as some sort of launch control.
Ah, thank you.

Back on topic. Webber out again. I'm assuming they run all day without a lunch stop on test days?

Possibly. I don't remember the lunch break being mandatory. I remember a story from last preseason tests that Vettel basically took a sandwich, ate in the cockpit, had a short break, and ran back out.

I don't think so: the speed after a few hundred meters will be changed very slightly.
Maybe it's to put all the teams in the same starting conditions and avoid some clutch-gear trick miming an alectronic start system

Testing is Pretty Useless when it comes to the times if you dont know any set-ups,Fuel loads & tyre condition. Last year was a real eye opener for me. I dont care about the times they are meaningless anyway.

Maybe in the last 1-2 days of the last test teams will do Qualy & Race Simulations & then we will have a better idea.

The bull duct is for driver cooling according to Newey (via Racecar Engineering)

Have you noticed that Raikkonen's time is faster than the best of last year?
Maybe new Pirelli compounds can alleviate the loss of downforce caused by the banning of EBD.

Ill call it first, bullshit. Who ever has had a cooling duct that large at the front that wasnt for a F Duct for instance. Im sure theres some fluidic aero working somewhere here.

However Renault have said today the change to the exhaust layout will give cars a 20-30hp increase on last year as the EBDs were costing sheer horsepower, so faster in a straight line this year.

Schumacher is now in the car.

Nice. I might start calling him, and all drivers "The" followed by their surname. Like it!

Reminds me of a neighbour I used to have whose cat was called Eileen, but she called her "The Eileen". "Have you seen The Eileen?".

Sorry folks, back on topic....
