Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In these pictures, the bodywork is very smooth, well the bits we can see. Not objective, but there don't seem to be as many bumps, curves and tapers as the other teams. Will that help keep the airflow attached and fast (not so many direction changes sapping energy?) I'm not aerodynamics expert, but it "feels" better. Can anyone elaborate or comment?

Sorry, but what do you mean by "Monkey-Seat"?

The small wing attached to the beam wing is the monkey seat.

I'm not sure I'm seeing what you're seeing there. Where or what do you see?

I believe I'm wrong. I thought it looked like they were using a different exhaust fairing. I don't think so now. :/

It can in the central 150mm which are not regulated, thus allowing extensions like on the McLaren.

It's testing, chill out.

Here's a nice super high-res image of the car where you can see the exhausts. And another which shows the direction of the cutout.
