CaterhamF1 CT-01 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like they have made clever little wings out of the side pod deflector fasteners.

Based on Autosport, It features Red Bull's 2012-specification KERS unit and the reigning champion team's 2011 gearbox.....

I have to say that the of all the step-nosed 2012 cars, I think the CT-01 has one of the more pleasing interpretation of the nose...whether that translates to being effective is something I'll leave for the experts.

I would add that these cars don't look half as bad once they're on track, judging by the photo's so far...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

its teh same as seeing a crocodile for the first time.
First you are shocked
then you are repulsed
then you deny that you saw a crocodile

then you accept its crocodile and start thinking how many pairs of cowboy boots can you get out of it...

Caterham news from @MikeGascoyne: "Testing finished for the day unfortunately. No problem with the car but a damaged starter shaft means we can't start it"
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

That's what the link sent us to. I don't know why that would be on the car though. Seems an unusual pairing?

I have to agree with you on that. Unlike, say, the Toro Rosso, this one isn't completely wafer-thin. It's got some nose-cone to it being a little narrower but with some depth.
