Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ok, can someone help me out here. I really really do not see a front suspention unit from that shot. I see a hole where the suspention arm should be, but call me crazy but there is none. Can anyone else see that?
well spotted..where did that pullrod go?
I don't see any damage around it so it doesn't look like he lost it on the track.

By rules, that's the endplate.

Crafty buggers.
classes as the 20mm allowed thickness width for the endplate

Right-Click and view image, look closely and you can make the pullrod out...the angle of the picture is such that the pull-rod bends in with the edge lower edge of the nose/tub, which is painted black (or unfinished carbon) and hence it camouflages well.

Has anyone any ideas on why they would choose to remove the front suspension all together?

Look at the picture above. Clearly no suspension and an open hole where it should be.

maybe to evaluate the effects of an anti-dive system during braking...by locking the suspension arms in place the car will not dive...allowing them to investigate its effects..maybe..

Pull rod is still there. But what is that hole's purpose?

I have looked that the picture above...hence why I said right-click it and view the image. After a moment of looking very closely I could see it and just described where it is.

Nobody would run a car without suspension at all, it removes any setup adjustment options for a start, not to mention the ability to control how the car rides over the surface and maintains a decent contact patch.

Gimme a moment and I'll "photoshop" the picture to try and highlight it...

I've lightened the shadows and increased the midtone contrast (not to much avail unfortunately) but have attempted to highlight where I can see the pull-rod my sandwiching it between two yellow lines.

Hope this helps :)

Image

Edit: Should also help explain why its so hard to see at first, as the angle is just so, that it sits almost perfectly in-line with the lower edge of the nosecose/monocoque. Being the same colour it blends in nicely...or not so nicely depending on how you look at it :P

I meant the first picture of the page. You can't see it there, it might be hidden but with that big hole there I thought they might have removed it. I know it would be weird to run a car without, hence my remark.
