Rubber buildup from the track surface. Also known as OPR (other peoples rubber). Happens quite frequently in other racing series and the severity varies track to track.

I think you are right. We have not seen much in the way of blistering from Pirelli or Bridgestone. It used to be a regular thing with the Goodyears.

Just clag.

Which condemns Williams to a sh!t season.

I hold Windsor's opinion in extremely low regard.

He actually gave the best advice I have ever seen for choosing the right place to watch the race in Canada. He wrote very precisely and succinctly how the different drivers were exploring the limits if their car, and the track.

Based on a lot of his musings, I agree that his opinion is not always worth listening, but I have found his ability to car watch and read into quite good.

Wow. I actually value his comments on everything EXCEPT car behavior and driving.

Just wanted to try and help mx_tifoso with his doubts about the Toro Rosso and the flow vis. Here's a full resolution crop of the front wing:

So when he says the Williams is looking good, you still value that opinion based on what you just mentioned?

@JET: My stance on his carwatching/driving is not "the opposite must be true." I just flat out disregard them.

I used to believe in it, especially with the eloquence he puts in it, but then I started noticing several errors which I felt were absolutely fundamental, and I stopped caring for his comments on car and driving after that.

I'm not of the stance "what he's saying MUST be wrong; the opposite must be true," but I just take observations from other sources.

He's a popcorn commentator.

I followed @eason for a little while(The Times F1 reporter) And literally the fluffy BS this guy posted had me reaching for the paper bag.
Shame as The Times is a very good paper in general.

I told him what I thought of his tripe and he got the right hump! Properly cried like a little baby!

Tweeting rubbish like
"met Hembrey, in good spirits"

No insight, no nothing. Just BS fleet street journo tripe. I think guys like Scarbs and F1enigma ought to have a bigger platform than they currently do, especially with numpties like @eason around. And also becuase information is vital at this stage of the season. Who has what, analysis etc etc. Not very many good guys about doing it.
More could have been done.

I remember his comments on the 2004 Williams.

Basically he called every other designer in the pit lane idiots, that they may as well give up on the year and that they need to start redesigning their chassis.

This was at the car launch. Before the thing even turned a wheel in anger.

I had long since regarded his writings as rubbish before this point, but since then, I have had a new level of contempt for him.

Kilcoo who is "he" again in your post?

Windsor often goes 180 on previous views. He'd say, " I think X will happen." when Y happens instead, he'd say things like how it was obvious to him from the start that it would happen.

And I can't stand his overly PC comments... He talks of every F1 driver like they're the best in the world.

@JET I saw that - your comment on Eason's "uniformed" journalism :P

His involvement in, as well as reporting from, the USF1 team, should forever disqualify Windsor from racing media.

The Lotus looks incredibly close to the ground. RRH has been banned I guess but has Lotus sneaked in some similar invention of sorts?? I wonder..
