Ferrari F2012

Also notice the black covers on the rear wings and something between the rear tire and rear wing. Better pics to come soon I hope. Can't figure out what they are.

Maybe because the exhaust are more turned upward than to the inside, and the writing on the photo says "sobre" which i think means "up" in spanish.

First bunch of test days are over. I wish to Ferrari that they well analyse the data and make the right decisions.

Sobresaliente in spanish means that they are coming out of the structure

Not sure if the protruding tubes are legal, it probably only is a temporary solution.

That pic of the Ferrari's rear is what I was expecting from McLaren if they'd stuck with the U-pods this year.

ps The exhausts and bodywork look symmetrical to me

if FIA demands that exhaust must be visible from above , is it posible to use transparent bodywork around exhaust?

I'm pretty sure the words are "plain view" not "from above".

Good question, but i thnink there no such hetresistant material which is fully transparent.

McLaren (or was it BMW) used translucent bodywork a few years ago that slowly evolved to become invisible over the course of a test. An eagle-eyed fan spotted something that may have been nothing on the car and the word spread. Anything's possible, I guess.

Edit: true story!

Using transparent aluminium?
heat resistant quartz glass has deformation point at 1280°C. F1 exhaust temperature goes to 950°C.

It's also pretty dense, and would be placed high up, but the benefits may outweigh that.

“This time is worth nothing as is the one I set yesterday and those of the previous days,” said Fernando. “Yesterday, we worked mainly with the hard tyres and the others ran the softs and we were seventh. Today, we fitted the Softs and maybe the others did not and we are first. That’s all it is.
Link to the quote

I wonder if they spent so much time (the first 3 days) running the harder tires and therefore setting comparatively poor lap times because they want to make sure there's not the performance gap they suffered from last year with the F150 running the medium and hard compound tires.

The F150 seemed like a different car when it wasn't on the softs or super softs, especially in the beginning half of the year. If I were them, I'd be spending a lot of time working on the car with the harder compounds too.

This wiring loom goes behind the diffuser? Pressure measuring?

Guys I just had a thought...why did they use GOLD tape??? gold reflects heat..so where does the heat come from? have they really found a way to deflect the exhaust downwards?
