Mercedes AMG have today completed their shakedown of the W03, the team's new 2012 car. After the team decided to run at last week's Jerez test with the older car, Mercedes will present its new car to the public next Tuesday at the start of testing at Barcelona.
A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
The rules DO NOT allow any "RADICAL" exhaust anyway. They'll blow around the brake ducts, tyres or the beam wing.
There is no HUGE gain to obtain from the exhaust anyway.
THE WHEELBASE LOOKS VERY LONG. Super Slim Sidepods. Cant comment from this picture but the siepods dont look bad.
The other noticeable Issue is how narrow the NOSE IS. Stepped nose of gently slopping like Mclaren is not possible to deduce from this picture. It's a LWB car though.
Alright guys time to hedge your bets, no money of course only in the spirit of motorsport and ego boosting.
Going for Low Nose due to the possibiliy that a stepped nose with such a narrow ending could mean poor airflow over the cockpit/reliability issue.
Lets get some speculation going before its unveiled!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.
From the different shape of the nose compared to the W02, I reckon they will go for low nose this year.
Also, any notice they may be reverting to a blade roll hoop again?
And the sidepods do not appear to be totally symmetrical....
