Yeah. I'm not following either.Crucial_Xtreme wrote:I'm obviously missing what you're saying because it looks to be a hole there. Could you explain the thought again?Holm86 wrote:Heres my idea. Tried to sketch it up here this evening.

Can you get the idea??
Anyone know if this is legal???
This example uses the air that comes around the coke bottle but you could also direct the hot air outlets of the sidepods to the holes.
The floor is still only one piece and theres no holes in it.

What I think he means is a duct like the RB7 had which blew through the starter hole.
Anyway, a duct there would be obstructed by the pull rod.

Its just like ferrari did (i believe 2 years ago??) with their gills over the exhaust. The rule said no gills and only 1 hole and thats where the exhaust exits. Ferrari made a small slit through the gill down to the exhaust hole and now its just one hole.
Ive done the same ... theres a slit from the edge of the floor connecting to the "hole". This means that theres no hole. Just a complicatet edge of the floor.
Take alook at this shot from underneath the floor.

Theres no hole ....
These ideas have not been demonstrated with any sound science.shelly wrote: Exhausts can probably be redirected down using outer flow and maybe Coanda effect. Some arrangements tried in Jerez by Ferrari, Sauber and McLaren suggest that.
I believe it was Mercedes and the size of the exhaust opening was not specified.Holm86 wrote:Its just like ferrari did (i believe 2 years ago??) with their gills over the exhaust. The rule said no gills and only 1 hole and thats where the exhaust exits.

Are you proposing a slit from the starter hole to some other location? If so you are now stuck with a very small specified starter hole size, current rules, that is going to be of limited value once you get to where you want it.

I think if you read the rules carefully that you will find that the floor is described using perimeter dimensions and there is no exception for a hole that you are proposing. They are describing a 'zone' using exterior dimensions. Your zone with a hole in it would require much more complicated dimensions.Holm86 wrote:No look at my picture from underneath the floor. The slit just goes to the side edge of the floor. Not the starter hole.
Mercedes used the "1 hole" set of gills with the slit connecting them last year, but Ferrari showed up with them in Bahrain in 2010hardingfv32 wrote:I believe it was Mercedes and the size of the exhaust opening was not specified.Holm86 wrote:Its just like ferrari did (i believe 2 years ago??) with their gills over the exhaust.
