Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

(Right there with you, Owen.)

Regardless of anything else, this was fun. Cheers.

This is the part where I'd buy you a beer if this was the real world.

Anyone notice in the earlier photo that the floor isn't straight? it has some sort of a miniscule curve to it.

Either that or my eyes are going bonkers...

That's proving to be endemic in this thread.

Can we go back to the transparent engine cover? That was more fun.

Is it me, or the sidepod, just beneath the exhaust cover, is blistering and deforming due to the action of heat?

More likely to be sculpted around the exhaust manifold, I'd say.

I agree looks like sculpted, possibly preparing for a new exhaust housing?

It's a possibility, but in that case, they have changed the exhaust manifold at least twice from the launch day (if the car had it at all), to Jerez, and again in Barcelona; all three sidepod covers have a different shape in that area.

things are definitely not looking good for Ferrari. I am worried that F2012 might turn out to be a total disaster and embarrassment for the team.

F2012 do have all the great ideas, but they just couldn't put them together as a package. With so many new ideas and limited track testing, I am not sure how long it will take for them to correlate the wind tunnel data.

Alonso - “There’s still a lot of work to do, but isn’t that what we are here for?” said the man from Asturias. “I don’t think we will see anything different over the coming days, because before we can see what this car is really capable of, we must piece together all the pieces in the jigsaw."

Its way too early to write off Ferrari or any other team for that matter.

The F2012 is a completely new rethinked car compared to the other teams, they have had to reshape their thinking and strategy in design.

My opinion the more faults they find in pre-season test etc is better than failing when they turn up to Melbourne, if they have to go slow in testing in order to do that then it beats going fast like last years pre-season test and come qualifying fall right off the pace.

To me this looks promising, look at how stable the car is regardless of not being at race pace:

I read from another forum that the F2012 is eating its front tyres in a big way.
Does anyone has some input on this?

I agree with asking for proof when infact the pull rod has yet to prove any hinderance to the performance of the front tyres or reliability..

Does Ferrari still get to use the 100km straight-line/filming run that they missed out on due to snow?
