What's even going on in that?

It looks like the panels were simply taken off, but what could have happened is a build-up of pressure inside of the sidepods, which made them "explode" and the panels shattered off. I'm pretty sure that happened a few times in the beginning of the 2010 season

Yeah there's pictures of some panels torn to bits.

I think Sauber had those exploding panels.

The same could be said for Williams, who certainly isn't a top team. I don't think the FI is a winner. It may be better than last year, but I expect TR to be ahead of them at the start of the season.

Plus, I don't see how this team thought of everything. It looks interesting, but the Sauber looks better aerodynamically.

I bet it is better than Mercedez for at least half the time though..

It might be, it was getting close last year. I just don't see the ingeniousness of the FI as you guys do. I do see it with the Sauber and a lesser extent TR.

What are those yellow streams? Are those artifacts of the photo?

i thought maybe the person taking the picture was looking through a window and they were glare, maybe a reflection from behind the person

I think that internally seals off the top part of the engine cover so that air drawn in for cooling doesn't pointlessly flow up around the snorkel.
