Hi Guys
I thought i would start a thread and upload images of my f1 models i am currently doing.
I'm currently doing the De Agostini 1/8 MP4-23 which is fantastic, very high detail. Because parts come once a month it only gives me and hours worth of things to do so I'm also doing a Revell kit of the MP4-25 which is 1/24. The models are totally different. The De Agostini is more about assembling all the parts with glue and tiny tiny screws, the Revell is just like an airfix kit (paint and stick). It is the first one i've done so the painting isn't 100% but i'll get better (i hope). Any tips, throw them this way.
Large Model
First the large model. Progress will be slow, once a month. Unfortunately i only just thought of doing this so this starts at issue 37. Already done is below:
Front wing is virtually complete
Front suspension and brake hubs are done
Rear wing is done
Gearbox is done
Engine is done
Rear suspension is done
Airbox is done
So issue 37 to 40 included completing the floor. The whole section comes in two parts + extra little add ons such as rear skirts which can be seen here
Adding the gearbox cowl's and bargeboard stays to the floor + connecting the large sections together. As far as i know now the floor is complete.
Next issue (in a months time) is damper unit components. I will get three more, but i can only see issue 41 on the back of issue 40. I'll take more pictures as i do it as well.
Small Model
Now on to my little model. We start at the end of page one. Again i will take more pictures as i go from now on.
The floor is basicly complete along with the engine which has been attached to the floor. The majority of the rear suspension is also complete + the beam wing.
As you can see from the images, its much smaller. I'm relying on the gf to touch up some things for me, i just haven't got the steady hand. Such as the merc logo which need doing.
Currently I'm onto the cockpit. Everything has had its first coat of paint. The seat needs my gf's hand for the straps to smarten it up. Some decals need to be added as well (in the cockpit and on the steering wheel).
(the light doesn't do this justice)
Once that is done it will be attached into one unit - seat, steering wheel and i guess the bulk head? (small part painted at top). So i'll keep you posted when i do this!
Thanks for reading! And any tips on doing these small models please tell me some
Luke
