Williams FW34 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Just realised that on the image on the left, the right hand side of the car is simply a mirror of the left. Any idea why this is?

I mirrored it because the right side was too dark and incomplete IRC

Those of you with Sky Sports F1 HD can watch the FW34 chassis build as part of their looped video build up to the channel launch.

They have one other aero array that they can still use on the front wheel.

Also they seem to have a interesting front suspension linkage on the front of the chassis as well.

Nice, have we any similar shots of last year's 'box?

Would be great to see a comparison!

Awesome, thanks. I am sure someone with more knowledge than me can point out the differences, but obviously there different suspension mountings etc due to the change in the suspension layout at the rear this year.

Looks like they made the lower wishbone horizontal this year and inclined the upper wishbone, there by the upper wishbone points are lower, indicating the entire gearbox has become shorter than last year's.

The pull rod also seems to to have a length adjuster on it as featured on redbull.

Looks like they plan to mount the tv camera pods there but haven't yet.

Would there be any advantages/disadvantages to mounting them on the nose, instead of between the front wing pylons?

That's where the cameras have been mounted all along on the FW34. What they've done today is replace the cams with sensor modules to monitor the wing or tyres.

They added a slot to their diffuser's gurney, Like Ferrari, RBR, Mclaren etc (the trick invented by STR in 2010 IRC)
