Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'll never forget his statement last year after beginning work on the 2012 car stating the RB8 would "dazzle and amaze" the F1 world. I get the feeling the Red Bull hammer is about to fall. Fasten your seatbelts.
Happens every year. Red Bull said last year that the car they'd race in the first race would be radically different from the launch spec and would have a massive update. In the end it was like a new Porche 911 being announced, where the fanbois ended up pouring over photographs marvelling at a few tiny detail changes.

Same. Rules are tightly defined; no more than 3500mm^2. I'm sure Red Bull know what they're doing.

That explains why Newey said he was impressed with the Sauber. Very similar.

Simply stunning.
MP4-27's concept of routing the exhausts on the floor has been extremised here.
Clear path of the exhausts to the diffuser.

The whole back end of the sidepod looks different. I am waiting for a pic with the whole car. New fw and rw also they say.
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Not the same thing. Sidepod in RB8 ends in a way routing exhausts on the floor, Sauber isn't anything near.

You really havent looked at the Sauber much have you. Sorry to put another Sauber pic on the RB thread but this is closer to our on RB pic so far. Sorry but its exactly the same philosophy, similar downwash side pods and exhaust position.
Also Autosport quote "Mark Webber gave the new car - which features a number of updates including a heavily revised exhaust layout (similar to Sauber's)"
