Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They've been doing that for a while now. Don't you guys remember the mini fuss over their hinged wing support?

Here's scarbs' article about it...

Supposedly Whiting told them to change it, but it was flexing all through the end of the season in the same way.

I remember McLaren's 2011 pylons, but tbh I've never before seen such a pronounced pitch on their front wing.

A faint red glow is considered 480 C, so I would say it needs to only cool to say 400 C to be invisible.

While I appreciate that there is air cooling on the track, the disc normally go dark soon after the pedal pressure is removed.

The disc in the photo is dark to all intents and purposes. If that thing was surrounded by a wheel and photographed from 30 metres then it would look dark just as it would normally in photos/TV coverage.

And this disc is carbon, not steel. Does carbon glow the same colour for a given temperature as steel...?
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Good thought... The best I can find at this point is red hot charcoal @ 600 C.

I have a Williams carbon disc but don't have the heart to put a torch to it.

The coanda bodywork is being changed as the tests go on. That's their only way of reducing the molting marbles. I figured this would be an aspect of tuned aero systems on the car. Whole lotta changing and sweet spotting.
For Sure!!

Looks like they have removed the snow plough and gone for turning vanes under the tub. Interesting.

Ah, then that could indeed be the cause of the 3 hour delay in the garage.

as well as removing the snow plough, they've also moved the camera mounting down to the same position as on the ferrari

Removal of snowplow? An attempt to raise the underside of the nose up then? I noticed they have those vertcal fences under the nose now.

Sigh... just coming from the RedBull thread...I hope Mclaren's exhaust solution can blow the diffuser as strong as redBull but I doubt it though..
