Marussia MR01 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Are they trying to increase the air to the rear by lifting the front wing, or is the car just super high for shakedown purposes?

So everyone should be happy...

I think it is the ugly livery, the nose just looks like McLarens last year.
Looks high, maybe the demotyres are larger in diameter... and/or they run it high because zhey don't want to damage it :D

It looks more basic and unrefined than the Renaults he was doing 10 years ago. Perhaps they aren't paying him enough.
actualy if you look on R202, and R23B they were rough in relation with R24, R25, R26.I'm not saying that car will be champion, but with solid car base you can make good car if you have good budget. i realy like shape of this car

The front wing is definitely high, you can see with the naked eye that it's above the reference plane. I would expect it to be on exactly the same plane as the reference plane tbh.

To me it actually looks akin to the Lotus (now Caterham) from their debut year in terms of simplicity. Looks to me like they're just trying to develop a baseline F1 car that passes all the rules, doesn't completely suck, and where the CFD / wind tunnel correlates with what they're seeing on track.

That will then give them something to build upon, to refine and add detail over the coming season and into next year. The rules for next year remain stable so could be a good route for them to take even if it leads to plenty of disappointment at the beginning of this year.

What would the secondry intakes below the sidepod intakes be?They look quite small. If they were used for cooling purposes I would have thought it easier to channel air allready forced into the main intakes.....

Except it has to be a minimum of 75mm (iirc) above the reference plane. It does look odd though, I agree there.

All the others had it wrong all the time, trying to flex the wing down to the ground when all the time they should've lifted it by 10 cm. That front looks so wrong, any theories what's going on?

really cannot believe how high that wing is, surely it's just because of the shakedown? Or maybe the nose was the crash test they were failing, so they've put on an old prototype or something?

The front wing does seem high but then again they have only just got the thing out of the box so the setup will be in Vanilla mode, perhaps the ride height is higher than normal at the moment. Also, I think the top teams have all got on top of their flexing technology so we’ve spent the testing season staring at cars out on track at speed with their wings drooping to the max so when we see a “normal” wing it looks weird. I think they are in for a tough season with this car, it looks a bit chubby and boxy to me, especially when you consider there is no KERS to package.

I believe the nose is legal. The tub seems to slope down and the design is clearly new, waiting for more pics looking forward to this car

The FW looks high, because maybe we are used to it with high noses. I'm sure they aren't that amateur not to put it on the lowest position possible.

The exhaust is in a similar position as on the RB8. Am I drawing the right conclusions?
