Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

The new ones are far more integrated, and the bodywork ahead of them is more "swooping" and in line with them. This suggests that after testing a lot with the Bulge style exhaust, McLaren are satisfied enough not to try other variations of exhaust solution and are now refining their first choice... which can only be a good thing!
I think they were testing it to make sure it didn't overheat and the exhaust flow was going in the right direction with melting anything and then changed the bodywork as RB did to the final version

hmm new sidepods looks similar to what sauber and red bull are doing? at least it seems to be a similar concept to me.

http://www.f1technical.net/features/ima ... ar-hun.jpg shows an example of a change from asymmetrical on the MP4-25. http://cdn6.wn.com/pd/8d/c0/688d4805772 ... grande.jpg on the MP4-24 and again http://i39.tinypic.com/2w5865z.jpg. There are others, but i thought the 3 was enough. Also the photos you refer to are the ones I was in reference to. In which, I believe it does not show a change in undercut as its taken from different angles on different sides of the car. Again, in my opinion, but also factually supported by the fact the writing is backwards.

However, I would agree with the above posts that the Mclaren bodywork did visually seem to suggest a changeable outlet (in my opinion) and that this bulbus bodywork has been changed. Maybe this suggests (IMO) that Mclaren have found a configuration base that works for them.

Enough of the bickering has anyone else heard of this, it's new news for me

From Speed Channel.
Did you see that McLaren have rebuilt half their car?" Force India technical director Andrew Green is quoted as saying.

One new innovation on the MP4-27, apparently, is a Mercedes-like front wing W-duct."The upgrade is a major step forward; better than we expected," said Jenson Button.

Done. As the forums get busier now testing has started we have less time for subtle edits or moving posts.

The personal posts about "you don't understand me" have gone.

The exhaust bulgs are very good for a cooling outlet, maybe just a little one. So they could reduce the sice of the cooling outlets backwards if it works with aerodynamic.

I could also imagine that they bring little chimneys on the outer front edge of the sidepod. Because the panel has changed in testing.(I know, not mclaren typical)

Those links are just to photos, so I doubt that they are "dangerous". There have been a few complaints about that site having strange effects on virus checkers, so I thought I would do a bit of checking.

That site appears to operate under the .co.cc domain, which technically doesn't exist : the .cc top-level domain exists and a third party reseller has bought co.cc as a private domain name. They are now selling cheap subdomains of co.cc (e.g. yourdomain.co.cc) to undercut the pricing of official domain registrars.

This is a bit sneaky and a little underhanded (though totally legal) and has been utilised by millions of sites that often contain illegal, spammy or malicious content. Because of this, Google have blocked all of the co.cc subdomains from their search listings and many other companies have followed the lead by labelling all content on co.cc subdomains as suspicious.

As far as I can tell, there are no problems with any of the links Pup has provided : It is just that the site's cheap domain name is triggering an alert.

(More info on google blocking co.cc : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07/06 ... _cc_sites/)

PHWOOAR!! Av a look at the curves on that one!

I wonder how the nose height/shape will affect visibility and if it will enable better performance while cornering.

Great collection of photos, especially that last one. Easily the best looking car on the grid this year.

With these latest revisions it looks so elegant and clean where others are having to resort to all manner of flaps and ducts to make their solution work.

Sorry if Pup has already posted links to such pictures, NOD32 won't let me see his links.

Thanks guys!

Yes, I believe the inlets are on the front wing pylon uprights. I've no idea of the trap speeds from yesterday though.

That looks painted. I "enhanced" several pictures and didn't see any inlets. Perhaps they are blanked off in this picture.
