BTW I was just wondering if exhaust hole opening in the bodywork should be created like this and create a chanel to the diffuser?

[img]http://papermodelers.sk/hostimages/wYnL ... vn.png[img]

Doesnt the cut in the exhaust have to be perpendicular to the floor??
That would only be allowed if ferrari could unequivocally prove that the exhaust flow wasn't passing through the bodywork. Somewhere in the new regs it states that after the end of the exhaust the gases arn't allowed to pass inside any bodywork ect.

I'm sure someone can provide you with the exact wording of the regulation
I can find nothing that prevents such a system. In fact I added something similar to my F1 model recently.

It depends on the compound used.

Harder tyres require more heat to start "working" than softer ones, which is why Martin Brundle constantly commented on Ferrari's lack of ability to get heat into their tyres last season.

Yes - but I never understood that as "you need to get it HOTTER." I understood it as you needed more energy to get it up to (roughly) the same temperature

Found this info on tyre temps :

http://www.aaformula1.com/2011/04/f1-pi ... stics.html

So if it's true, then the harder the tyre, it needs to work at higher temp too. Interesting.

I think we should split this into a different topic - I'm very curious to discuss this further; but without further polluting the F2012 thread.

I made this very rough drawings about what i think might change on the ferrari sidepods if indeed they are changing anything...
this first drawing is how the ferrari sidepods look now:
Image

if you look at the lower leading edge of the sidepods you will see that they are like walls in front of the airflow which might be a reason for what is said about the flow not being able to efficiently go to the back of the car....but i think that this is what they had in mind when they were shaping that area...they wanted to extract some downforce from that front part of the floor...i hope you can see what i mean:

and this is what i think they might change...the might remove that 'wall' obstructing the air flow to the rear:

I can't see anything change to the base drawings you've posted, except the middle one has some yellow & red go faster stripes !

Here's a good side look at the current sidepods. Its hard to make out exactly what you're saying from those pictures. Great effort though! Very nice drawings mate.

I was just thinking that.

You have to be careful in this area. If air flow around the sidepods is "too good," it will produce lift.

I agree. Some suggest it's the Acer ducts that's causing the problem. But I don't see it that way. You?

The change is on the connection between sidepod and floor. It's cleaner and the "bump" is smaller. That's what I think they want to show to us.

How ever this should be discoveried much erlier than on 2nd test in Barcelona. So I think if this is the real issue they figuret it right after Jerez.

Another tidy up.

If your comment isn't about an actual object on the car then it does not belong in this thread!
