Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I understand where you're coming from, but the bottom line is we're not quite sure where we're at compared to our rivals. We just don't know. The team has said their disappointed with where the car is. They wanted it to be first. Domenicali said the team is disappointed because the team did not reach it's own goals. Not because the car is much slower than the competition.
Until we quali poorly but more importantly finish the race the poorly, I will not be down. Until then we just don't know. :)
But I agree I'd rather see the team sacrifice the first few races to make sure the car is the best it can be for later in the year. I'm just not sure we're at that point.
i respect that and, if i may , i will add something (this isn't mine): We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender
You made him very happy :) Go Ferrari Go.

It was posted by "n_sminkle" that the new parts would be ready by FP2. Lets hope it's true.
That makes no sense. Why wouldn't they bolt the parts on for FP1?! And plus, I actually heard from my dog that they don't plan on bolting on the new parts until the 2nd pitstop of the Melbourne race.
It's the normal procedure from Ferrari. First, they do FP1 with the "normal" car, to see where they are. On the second practice, they put the new parts, so they can compare and see if the new parts work or not. Put those new parts on FP1 have no sense, because you don't know if they are working or not, because you have no baseline

That's what i would do. Seems quite reasonable

Trocola

On the one hand it seems absolutely reasonable... if you want to try out a few new parts in the middle of the season...

but the thing is, according to all the reports, our team will bring a lot of new things, so only 90 minutes to test them all and assess what they're worth, it can be short... further more, if we have reliability issues like we had in BCN... it's quite a tricky situation

I think it would be in our interest to get the more track time possible strating from fp1... i dont know, difficult to assess from outside

radosav : never surrending has been the major strenght from FERRARI in ages... it's in our genes !!

Sorry to spoil the party, but can we return to the car itself please?

Or perhaps it is better to wait until there are some images or laptimes to talk about?

I trust the historical irony of posting this particular quote in an italian car thread isnt lost on anyone

Re: Ferrari F2012

I was reading the thread about toyota's tf110 and the pics of the car curiously reminded me of some of the designs FERRARI innovated this year with f2012...

just look at the rear of the toyota where on the f2012 there are now the acer ducts...

also, the top of the engine cover with two inlets besides the big air intake...

it also says that the Ferrari mechanics can adjust the height of the car at pit stops to cope with the loss of weight due to fuel consumption...

we all know Ferrari used toyota's wind tunnel, so it might be there that Fry got his inspiration for the f2012...

hope i've been clear enough :wtf:

I know is a low res picture but to me the left side-pod visible is a bit tighter. Anyone noticing or is it because of the picture that gives this impression?

I just read on another f1 forum that new parts are due to arrive between fp1 and fp2, and i also saw this pic from a diferent angle and i have to say that this pic gives a false impression, sidepods are still the same... at least, new are not yet fitted on the car...

Are you sure these pictures are from today?

The track is wet today in Melbourne cause of slight rain, and yesterday was dry. In your pics the track looks dry.
