Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

no, the tube slithering along on top of the airbox...
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Yes I'm aware of what the crash structure is and I wasn't talking about the crash structure. You see what I'm talking about. I saw Scarbs mention he can't figure out what it is either.

They are working on something, maybe their own F duct version or something similar. They admitted that everyone will copy Mercedes F-Duct which we can assume they are already working on smth similar.

whats the bet that tube comes all the way from the mailbox slot??

thats where my money is, we have heard charlie say that there are other teams than Mercedes playing with passive F-ducts, combine that with Red Bulls obsessive shrouding of the rear of their car during pre season tests i bet there is a system there.
"What it appears some teams are doing is that when the DRS is operated, it will allow air to pass into a duct and do other things," he explained.

I thought I'd point out that they had those tubes last year as well. I think they vent some breather air into the airbox but I'm not sure.

Picture from Spa last year.

Scarbs said it wasn't the airbox breather, but of course he could be wrong. Time will tell when we get some more pictures.
