Williams FW34 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

If there were points for engineering beauty Williams would be on 25 already :D

The wishbones do look shorter, but I think that's an illusion from the lack of clutter.

compare the engine packaging to the mclaren and redbull. The latter almost seems as if they crammed up the runners onto the radiators. This car seems more spacious under the hood.

Because a little reading will tell you that this thread is about technical aspects of the car – not the team, not the drivers, and not their performances.

I'm just surprised to see noone at least making related comments about how the car was made and what would have allowed it to make P8.

i wonder if that can flex down at speed?
is there a simalar 'flexy wing test' for monkie seats?

It's not a monkey seat it's a baboon bench.

Like where the team is heading with this car. Back where they belong. Maldonado is proving his worth. We need to stop sullying drivers with the pay driver badge. The guy is very very fast.
For Sure!!

Flexing of that monkey sit wouldn't be desired because it's equal to loosing part of usable energy by converting it into elastic energy. It's different story with front wing, because there the point of flexing is to get it low enough to benefit from some ground effect. Or so I believe ;)

I´m still amazed by the rear end of the Williams, it looks so wrong but so right :)

i would have thought that at high speed you need less drag, and can lose DF.
if it were to flex down at high speed, then it would have a lower angle of attack, therefore less dragg theror more speed. no?

low speed, higher AoA, more DF...
