A sad day for the Red Bull corporation ...

Post

The Thai billionaire who invented Red Bull (laying the initial foundation for their dominance in both Formula One and the Energy Drinks industry) has died ... http://gu.com/p/3695m

Although this will have no real impact on the F1 team, it is a sad day for Red Bull and I hope that they have a strong race showing after their underwhelming qualifying.

RIP Chaleo Yoovidhya.

I always thought Krating Daeng and Red Bull were two different entities. Or was I wrong?

NOPE. The European RED Bull dude asked for permission to take the drink and launch it in EUrope. The drink which is dangerous for your body comes from thailand which sucks

Yes - Krating Daeng is the Thai brand. Are you saying, "Nope - not two different entities." or "nope - you weren't wrong? (ie. they WERE two different entities?)

I always thought they used the same formulation - what's different? What makes the Thai drink "dangerous?"

We used to get cases of Thai Red Bull. It was thicker like a light syrop or liqueur, and was not carbonated. It came in a glass bottle like a flask.

If I drink a can of Red Bull, I can sleep if I want to. Doesn't do much more for me than coffee does. The Thai Red Bull kept me up all night, more than once.

Not sure of the recipe difference, or if the bottles were just more concentrated, but they were not the same thing to ingest, not even close.

I know of the Krating Daeng packaging and that it's not carbonated - in my home country we get Krating Daeng and not Red Bull - though in Singapore where I spend a good deal of my life there is Red Bull and no Krating Daeng. But I've never had either and so I don't know of differences in taste or effect. Just wondering why it was "dangerous..."

agree with you on this, I drink Redbull before exams, and it makes me a little sleepy.

The Thai stuff was originally meant as the concentrated syrup for the draught machines that mixed it with carbonated water to produce something similar to what we get here. Unfortunately, nobody drank it like that and they ended up serving it straight.

That concentration level makes it dangerous for people with heart conditions and also rather addictive ...

As for the separation of the Thai and worldwide businesses, the Thai company holds the rights and he worldwide company produces their product under license (much like he global Coca Cola franchises).

I hope this clears things up!

funny because bottle for can, they both contain the same amounts of caffeine and taurine, as has been indicated by my own research... (this involved comparing labels with nutritional information) perhaps it has a special ingredient that is not listed... :?:

the bottled stuff is more concentrated, because it contains the same amount of "stuff" in a smaller amount of liquid (bottle is 150ml and can is 250)
