CFD software

Post

Hi everyone,

I have to do a fluid flow analysis, specifically pressure distribution.
My question is, which software would be suitable for a rookie like me. I have some theoretical knowledge of fluid dynamics and I'm familliar with Autodesk modeling software(3ds max, inventor) and Catia aswell. Has anyone used Autodesk products (simulation, cfdesign) ? I know that Solidworks can do CFD too, but is it easy enough to start with ? My meshing skills are also not that good, so I need soemthing with decent auto-meshing, however I'm eager for spending some time to learn that.

Cheers

The meshing would be a simple conversion of your solid or surface model using Rhino or NX5.
I have a bootleg of Fluent i bought in 'Malaysia', lets say.
It's not that simple to run, you need a high level of math and code knowledge, and a 4 or 8 core cpu with lotsa ram.

Prepare to have a sore brain for a while!

I have used CFDesign 2011 which is very simple to use, but it is not providing very accurate results, depending on what you want to analyse. I would recommand using Ansys which is much much more complicated to use, but a lot more powerful and accurate. I am starting to learn by myself how to use it (V13). :)
