He was clearly mocking Vettel with that one. I thought it was quite funny ;)

World champions have made stupider mistakes than that and gone on to be great.

That was an amazing drive with a mistake at the end.

Didn't look like mocking to me ;) It was about the same gesture he made in 2009, but let's not argue ^^

After race interviews with MSC and ROS indicate that race pace is again a problem for MGP -.-

Well done to Maldona....nooooooooooooo! Alonso did a fantastic job with the dog he was given the steering wheel for. Great job from Button to just up and disappear, absolutely outclassed Hamilton. Hamilton must be feeling a little stunned. Vettel did a great job from where he was on the grid.

Schumacher racing well until his wee off and the gearbox a-sploding on him. Great come back from Raikkonen 18th to 7th - mind you it was helped a touch by drivers trying to kill each other and mechanical failures but nevertheless a classic back of the field sprint from him.

Massa really really needs to up his game. If I were Ferrari he would be out on his 4rse right now. He can't get away with causing stupid accidents and being so slow anymore.

+1
Would've got more points in that race than they did all last season. Oh well, at least it shows the car is much better this year...

Without the EBD downforce Pirelli's gonna make life much harder for Lewis against Jenson. I can see he is going crazy :) Nice to see his ego gettin tamed race by race by Jenson.

Fernando is such a talent. He deserves to be in the competition with RBRs and McLarens. I hope Ferrari will make it better for him and i think if Massa continues like this for couple of races more i won't be surprised if Luca di Montezemolo starts to find ways to dump him in the middle of the season...

Kimi did really great job like he's never gone and that Lotus have some pace, looking forward to see Lotus and Kimi with better qualifying.

Michael was unlucky i wonder if Mercedes has enough pace to battle with Mclaren and Redbull at a real circuit.

It was a great race to start a new season, plenty of action.

NathanOlder wrote:Great job Jenson, Mclaren is the class of the field. The safety car seriously helped out the other teams. I feel the race was won into turn 1 today. whichever Mclaren driver made it there first had the choice of the pitstops so was always easily in control. And today the DRS (like last year) was not very effective. So once Jenso got into the leas it was game over. Pitting 1 lap earlier meant Lewis had no answer.
To be fair Lewis was having to protect his rear tyres constantly so couldn't push as he would have wanted to.

McLaren stayed out a lap or two too long on the first stint which brought Vettel back into it a bit and then were very unlucky with the safety car. Lewis lost about 4 - 6 seconds to Vettel in that first round of pit stops by being kept out two laps too long. Without those two things then Vettel would have been a solid third but not in touch with Hamilton.

I think the next race will be a bit different. The long straights will play towards McLaren's hands with their slippery car, but there are some faster corners where they'll have an advantage over the Mercedes and Lotus. The grippier surface should help Lewis with his rear tyres as well, plus they'll have a bit more setup knowledge to help manage that.

Red Bull will probably suffer again in qualifying but should have a good race. They'll have to battle through a few cars though to get close to the McLarens.

Mercedes are harder to read though. Very fast over one lap but then were nowhere at all in the race. Rosberg went backwards and whilst Schumacher seemed to be holding on a little better I have no doubt his tyres would still have gone off faster than the cars around him.

im a williams fan and that was really stupid mistake from maldonado on that corner. it was never happened before on that place on the track and it will be one and only hit :!:

williams have a really good car but with this kind of drivers you can't count much more point's from him. i like to see williams back in 1st place but with this kind of mistakes is too far for reach. hope it will be the last time

Welcome back, Kimi!

I think everyone in the top 6 drove great today. But my main man is always Alonso.

For SV to pull second from 6th was just superb even iif a bit of luck went his way. Somehow I think him and RB had the measure of Mclaren and LH to take second anyway.

Webber I reckon had a really really top notch race.
Webber still needs to sort out his starts. It is compromising him badly.
Totally agree....could have been a very different race if he had had a better launch...

My personal thoughts:
- Good to have Kimi back!
- Brilliant drive by Alonso
- Well done by Vettel, even though he got lucky with the SC
- Maldonado made a mess of it, again. Trying too hard.

Also note there's a new poll about this race. Vote at will!
