Coulthard was straight in there at the time when Michael went off stating that he thought it looked odd and mechanical rather than a driver error. 12 laps into the new season and then i was back to bed.

We have a fundamentally good car, now it is up to us to optimise its performance and achieve its potential on track.

I wonder if we'll see anything like their Aussie tyre troubles.

Yup, he just pulled it over to mitigate any further damage there. Smart move. I guess he could have taken Seb out of the race but that wouldn't have been very nice.

never heard Michael voicing words of confidence since he drove W01 .

I think Michael will shine whatever the car is capable of and he will put Rosberg straight behind him as I think he is up for his last season as a driver.
so it either is a fight for the championship or a string of excellent performances on his farewell tour.Michael just wanted to see if he could mix it with todays best and he clearly has made his point.

i'm not sure if this is last season for him... if this car help him to win 1 race or be on podium in several races im sure he sign a new contract for next 2 years. Michael come in F1 for Championship and in 2013 he can fight for it with Ross behinde him. i don't think so this car can be on podium next weekend but this year Michael win 1 race.

Ι don't know either. On the one hand it seems difficult for him to outqualify and outscore Rosberg at age 43, as well as for Mercedes to renew his contract for 2 years as the rumors say. On the other hand he seems fitter than last year and his driving has improved a lot from what I've seen from the onboards since the restriction on blown diffusers. I for one would love to see him stay, he definately looks very motivated for the season and doesn't seem like an old-ready-to-retire driver like JV or even Mika Hakkinen looked on their last year. On the contrary, he looks youthful and full of energy. If his Australian performance was anything to go by, he might surprise some people who think that he is finished. Outqualifying Rosberg though will definately be difficult even if they are a lot closer this year.

I have the feeling rosberg will not be happy this year having the old fart as a teammate.

If you're trying to say that MS has been beaten by NR for two seasons due to the former's lack of motivation
with a shitbox for a car, that would be most unprofessional if true, don't you agree?

Amen to that! I really really hope MSC shines this season so he is offered a new contract by Mercedes. I think that if he manages to be satisfied from his performance as well as the car's this year, he might strongly consider renewing especially if because of the lack of testing he gets to spend time with his family. I also hope Corinna allows him to keep racing, wives can have a big influence on someone's career as Mika proved :P

x, not because of lack of motivation. Simply the new car allows him to drive closer to his natural style and therefore close the gap to Rosberg. If you remember over the last two years he was constantly warned not to use throttle and brake simultaneusly as it affects the way the EBD works.

you cannot really overdrive in quick corners it´s the slow stuff where asking too much of the car will destroy your tyres and cost lap time.
Why he did not even try to adapt to the capabilities of the car ..not sure but looking at his current driving the guy has not lost anything
of his talent.

I don´t think beating rosberg does give him any satisfaction when Nico seems to live on beating his teammate.

we all know michael how competitive is how can we think he can retire without championship or fight for it? last year in the second half of the season he led increasingly better with each passing race if he continue that in this season he will win 1-2 race :D 2010 was not conclusive and 2011 He was in front of Nico if Sauber drivers do not ruine races.
