That is an enormous DRS zone, is that definitely correct?

12/1 for MSC on pole, £10 free bet because I just registered, good free way to make qualifying much more interesting :D

It's 12/1 for a reason but at least I can be sure-ish he's good for Q3.

Any point in showing DRS detection "zone" in that picture? Or FIA simply have too much red ink?

So looks like it'll most likely be dry.

Honestly? Forecasts in this region are only reliable in say, a 24-hour timeframe.

Make that 12 hour period mate, very weird here in the tropics :/
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I stopped looking at the weather forecasts years ago - so I don't actually realize how inaccurate they are!

Enough about the weather!;-) Who else feels as excited about this race as a child on christmas eve?:-) :D

My guess is that Lotus will challenge McLaren in qualifying, followed by Mercedes and Red Bull... based on that in Austarlia, Grosjean was inexperienced(circuit), Raikkonen had a misshappening and Rosberg underperformed. In the race, I think Red Bull might jump Mercedes.
The speed of Ayrton Senna.
The mind of Alain Prost.
The dedication of Michael Schumacher.
The determination of Alex Zanardi.

For me a couple of things which the teams are working on will show if they are developing in the right direction :

- MercAmg : fix tyer degradation more & work on exhaust
- MClarren : if correct - get fuel consuption better under control
- Lotus : fix raikonen's steering wheel issue
- Ferrarri : new chasis - create better balance trough setup - better understanding the suspension

Other teams I have not been following that much , maybe somebody can add for the other teams and list on which area's they think should be worked upon ?

If for example we see that Raikonnen is happy with the steering at spepang , and he get's faster lap times , it's a good indication of how good the team understands the car and it's issues.

Head's up !

Even with two long straights I don't think the Mercedes DRS will be enough to get them on the 1st row, looking at the speed traps from Melbourne Mercedes & Macca were very close. I think Red bull will be Macca's bigeest threat then Mercedes & Lotus.

In 2008 he was outqualified by Kovalainen and outraced - Kovalainen ended 3rd and Hamilton 5th. After his first pitstop he came out behind a 1-stopping Webber (in a then-midfield-at-best Red Bull) and couldn't overtake him even with his 19-lap fresher rubber (Ham pitted on L19). He only overtook Webber because Webber pitted. He was only 4 laps heavier too - Webber pitted on L40 and Lewis on L44.

He outqualified Heikki in 2009; but only by 0.019s. In 2010 qualifying Button outqualied him by some 8 tenths too. And in 2011 he had tyre troubles.

Malaysia is a bit of a bogey track for Lewis - but what do I know. Before 2011 Lewis never scored a Nurburgring point before
2008: Botched pit stop ruined his recovery
2009: Had an amazing duel with Webber in the wet despite his car being so much slower. Finished in the points after starting from the back of the field.
2010: Button outqualified him but beached his car so no time set in Q2.

Not that bad... but it's fair to say he's had his fair share of misfortunes in Malaysia. He's got the car to win it all in 2012 in Malaysia, unlike in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 (Ferrari, RBR and Brawn too strong).
