Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Have there been any pictures released of the red bull post Oz to look at the burn marks from the exhausts to get an idea of where their exhaust flow is going on the car?

can somebody explain to me the clear pneumatic tube setup?
Image

they seem like an ancillary setup and not actually part of the car. Could it be a purging of the actual pneumatic system, or priming perhaps?

Red Bull using separate exhaust positions in Friday's FP1. Interesting.

It does sound funny. But when in car it doesn't sound particularly odd..but from outside it sure does.

Will work on the photos been bogged down in business, managed to get a breather to post in here. May get a chance to stick my nose inside RB's garage...and people say they want my job...pfft missed three quarters of FP1....
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

This looks good but it creates a lot of lift. The step avoids that.
If you look carefully mclaren's nose is not a gentle slope that looks good.
It's carefully curved and doesn't have any point of inflection on the top surface.
The point of inflection ends at the cockpit entry template.

The step is ugly but it's better aerodynamically.
For Sure!!

Nice shot. Shows how similar the wheel base is between the two.
Also not how much slimmer the redbull suspension arms are. The undercut is also almost identical. I think this year's mclaren is slightly longer than last.

What stands out also is the fuel tank shape from the top and difference in front wing design philosophy. Mclaren make more use of the given area.
Redbull wing seems more for efficiency between the wheels, and putting most of the wing loading in front of the wheels out to the edges of the wing.
For Sure!!
