Good side shot of the additional cooling openings (right click, view image). It certainly looks quite neat, and I know they made hot weather performance a priority.

We had some good shots of where the exhaust plume goes today after their engine failure.

Still images dont give it justice but it certainly looked like the exhaust plume was interecting with the diffuser near the wheel still.

O f coarse the car is at pit lane speed, but the exhaust is not even close to the wheel/diffuser gap. It need to be to the floor by the time it reaches the leading edge of the wheel. This flow is barely turning down in these photos.

A far as I can remember the race, it's blowing the brake ducts only.

Yeah I just remember in the race the flow seemed unusually low down and squirting out the side. Might just be the brake ducts though.

Wow, looks like the exhaust plume is have no difficulty at all getting to the diffuser in these pics!

Also helps reinforce my feelings that faffing around with exhausts really isn't what teams need to be doing this season if they want to progress.

Seems Ross Brawn realised this, but botched it up.

That really shows how readily the exhaust bends after exiting the pipe, and how that Sauber / Red Bull like layout works so well to get the exhaust down to where the teams want it.

Bit of a failure there for the FIA looking to ban the exhaust blown diffuser! They're going to have to go with a much steeper exit angle with exposed pipes if they want to stop the teams doing this. Question is if they need to. The racing this year has been pretty darned good with a very competitive field.

What actually broke on the car to cause that plume?

I gues the head gasket on the right cylinderbank.

PM car had a problem during the suspended period. The engine was being checked when on the grid and was the only car that had its enging running throughout that period. I guess they knew there was something wrong.

They were also checking the rear left suspension at that time, guess that was just precautionary after the contact with one of FI.
