Yes, because one race win means this one is pointless to run. They don't have anything "sewn up" by any stretch of the imagination, anything can happen. We haven't seen a single car run race laps in wet weather. For all we know the McLaren could be a canoe without a paddle in the wet.

Where do all these definitive declarations come from? Are people around here getting more and more delusional or is it simply bias? Because there hasn't been one sane prediction around here except the ones stating "we don't know for sure" and "it's a long season". This is getting ridiculous.
n smikle wrote:Funny how people write off the BOSS after one race. He couldn't heat up his tyres in AUS for whatever reason, but that is the past, this race is about learning to set up the car on medium and hards in high temps. I would be surprised if Hamilton hasn't learned what to do to get the medium tyre started.
And if/when he wins again, we'll get to suffer through your inane bleating about there's no one better than him. Button wiped the floor with him last weekend and there's no excuse for it other than he wasn't the better driver. There's a reason he's carrying the number 4 and not the number 3, and it isn't his tire temps. You still childishly refer to him as "the BOSS", "the BOSS" looks like a mere employee and has for about a year now. Please, whatever you do, don't pollute the forums with your crap and then call everyone else out on theirs. Yours gets old a lot quicker.

I think that's the smart move. Alonso is more capable of making a marginal setup work anyway. Massa, on the other hand...well, it's not like he would fare much worse if he gets caught out with a wet setup in a completely dry race, yanno?

EDIT: It might even be tempting to put Alonso on a full-wet setup, too. Rain is really the only chance Ferrari has at scoring a win here.

We dunno know that yet. Alonso might have also compromised on his setup.

Btw, did Alonso go for a proper quali simulation? I didn't see the full practice session. I wonder why he is 1.3s off the pace. Q3 seems like a long shot now??

He's 1.3 seconds off the pace because the F2012 is a mercilessly terrible car.

Then Ferrari will have to pray for some "mercilessly terrible" luck for their opponents to score better this weekend.

Or rain.

Don't be surprised if photos are posted in the next day or two that depict Alonso and Co. doing a rain dance around the paddock.

One clarification please.

Does the rule say anything about the minimum race distance that has to be covered for at least half of the points to be awarded? :?:

I know for full points to be awarded the race has to complete at least 75% of the total distance.

Anyone has the straightline speed data. I have got a funny feeling Rosberg will have 10-15km over anyone else. His S1 is ridiculously quick & his S3 time is good too. The Mercedes car is pretty mediocre in traction, the car is just a Monster in the straights.

Good for Red Bull & Mclaren that China is 3 weeks ago otherwise they would have no chance at pole at China. China has the largest straight in FormulaOne I think. There are 3-4 small & medium length straights & very few fast corners. Last year the DOG W02 even led a few laps partly thanks to the ridiculous straightline speed.

This year unless Red Bull & Mclaren can get the Rear Wing W-duct working by China, I see a 1-2 Mercedes in Qualifying.

Great question, but I have no idea.

The Wikipedia article on the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix says that it was only the fifth race to be abandoned before 75% of the distance was covered.

as long as 2 laps are completed - half points. For full points it's minimum of 75%

Thanks for the clarification. And btw, did you get any answer to your question regarding the unlapped cars under safety car?

Or watch it on sky in HD with many camera angles to choose from :P

Anyway, Interesting bit of info,

This is the ONLY track Vettel has won at, where he didnt start on the front row. In 2010 he started 3rd, but was 1st into turn 1.

That does say he only wins when he's out front  I wonder if he can break his duck at this track. Red Bull 5th & 7th in Qualifying.
