McLaren on managed to get 3rd from Lewis.
They couldn't capitalise on front row start. The real culprits were their pit-stops; all suck.
Typical McLaren mistakes.
Hamilton stalled his car in the pits, nothing to do with the team.Dann wrote:McLaren on managed to get 3rd from Lewis.

Nope he did not. He was waiting for the green light.AnthonyG wrote:Hamilton stalled his car in the pits, nothing to do with the team.Dann wrote:McLaren on managed to get 3rd from Lewis.

It's race talk: but McLaren just had bad luck after the restart+some driver mistakes.

Good post.JamesS wrote:Slow pit stops and being too cautious deciding when to change tyres ruined McLaren's and Lewis' in particular, chances of getting anything more than 3rd.
It left Lewis with too much to do towards the end. I felt he was saving the inters rather than pushing and burning them out too early.
Consistency is what you need to win the Championship and I think Lewis showed good maturity to secure good points.

A bit like the Red Bull of last year in a way. Race pace was (relative to its other qualities) not very strongringo wrote:I think this car has 2weaknesses, race pace and wet wether running. doesnt seem to be able to catch other cars over mid fuel stints. hamilton in particular hasnt been able to chip away at lap times with it. the car is quite mellow.
Maybe narrow window of performance is a better way of putting it. Seemed quick at the very start of the race and on full wets.Lycoming wrote:Im not sure this is enough to say that it has poor wet weather performance as well... how you do in the wet is generally much less car dependent and relies more on the driver and race strategy, the latter of which it seems they got badly wrong today.
It's not completely true. On the first 9 lap when it's raining they were good.ringo wrote:I think this car has 2weaknesses, race pace and wet wether running. doesnt seem to be able to catch other cars over mid fuel stints. hamilton in particular hasnt been able to chip away at lap times with it. the car is quite mellow.
