Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I have no clue whatsoever about what exactly the legendary Rory Bryne came up with.

That's soo obviously the problem with the F2012. Everyone knows that the stereo perception is lost with long wavelengths, and thus only one subwoofer is needed (if at all!), while one needs multiple quality speakers to provide a true surrRRRAOUND experience.

Fixing the sound imbalance will naturaly lead to better traction, higher downforce and lower drag. Also, if they avoid playing Genesis, Richard Hammond will get them a free engine upgrade.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Alonso to publish later a picture in the simulator on his twitter account.
Let's see if the date of 2000 still there.

What is this floor? I've seen it referred to a thousand times, but I've never seen an explanation of what it actually is.

Anyone?

I am not sure 100%,but sometime around new year allegedly there was an urgent meeting in Maranello whit senior staff, rumor was Byrne has came up whit this revolutionary floor that would require major redesign of big parts, rumor at the time was thhe floor would use hot air from sidepods to accelerate the air trough diffusor or something to do whit hot air anyways! Source of this is Spanish twitter, the floor did not work consistently in Spain most of the time not but when it rarely did the car was allegedly very fast!

Again, more rumors, but IIRC, back in testing in BCN, some speculated that Byrne's floor was made of special composites? That worked together with the exhausts that may result to a flexing floor? I think I read this one somewhere in this forum. Don't kill me if I'm just imagining this idea or what.

Nobody is really sure. Only speculation. Although I think it's safe to say that the "Byrne Floor" is at least made of advanced materials, aside from that nobody knows.

Yes the source of the Byrne Floor & China comes from Spanish sources. And from different people.

It should be said that the rumor is the byrne floor "could" make an appearance in China. Could being the key word. Which is rather vague. No way to verify the legitimacy of the claim as if it was said for sure it would be used.

I think it's fairly safe to say there will only be minor updates for China. We all kno what the team needs, and it's not a new floor. It's a new exhaust.

My personal contribution to the "Byrne floor" rumor mill was that the floor is the KERS battery. Without sounding too immodest, I have to say that I still think that's unequivocally, undeniably and by far and away the absolute finest "Byrne floor" rumor around, because, for one thing, it's not nearly as implausible as it seems on the surface.

If it means anything, I thought it was a cool idea.

As is so often the case, the operative words here are "allegedly," "rumor," and "hot air."

LOL!!

The mods will prolly delete this but you are a funny guy bhallg2k, and I appreciate your keeping it real. This forum can get a bit to serious at times and it's nice to have some humanness surface from time to time. Thanks for the light hearted moment.
I hope I get to meet some of you guys at a race someday not only for the connectivity aspect but im sure 2 hours with a number of the Ferrari genius's that seem to congregate here more than any other place on the web would make my f1 experience significantly richer.
Cheers--
