That's what I meant by "the headphone world." It's like a resort: all-inclusive.

(Now there's an idea for a theme park.)

In which direction would you look if you were looking for headphones that put out prodigious bass? I'm not exactly concerned about mid and high range accuracy - I have the HD650 for that - but I'm also not willing to go down the Beats route, either. The ATH-M50S is pretty much exactly what I have in mind, but since I've owned it before, I'm wondering if there are other comparable options.

I miss the turntable and valve amp combinations of the 70's, i've been converted to mosfet 2 channel with age, 5.1 surround has no nostalgia plus its pricey.

Belles sound great; save for the lack of bottom-end grunt.
I don't understand that comment as they were/are the only speaker to acurately reproduce the longest pipe of the biggest pipe organ in the world. Also back in my day we were looking for the most acurate perfect reproduction we could get. When Stereo Review tested my Luxman they have to create new testing equipment because it was better than ther test equpiment.
However sice I did have a large spread I did have a set of Klipsh Heresys for a bridge. Some of the best spatial reality I've ever heard.

To my memory I remember being unimpressed (relatively speaking) of the low-end of the range. Never heard any Luxman product before though.

Not a bad collection of speakers you've gone through. What was it you do for a living again?

Long gone now...I hate to say it but I could get the Klipsh's back if a friend who bought them from me dies, which he is likely to do since he needs a lung transplant. Don't have a spare set laying around do you?...I'd rather have him than the speakers.
Back in the day I had what was the top of the line stuff...my garage stereo was better than 90% of the home set ups.

Why long gone? Sold it all off?

I've used up all of my spare lungs, sorry. What is so bad that means he needs new lungs? Couldn't it get solved with some thoracotomy or minimally invasive surgeries? Segmental resection surgery is very good nowadays.
