Let's solve all of this right now and just freeze all rules and technology at 1976 levels and get the switch to a NASCAR like open wheel series over with. Theres too many rules already, why propose more or more changes.

Drivers have bought their own tyres before when it suited them and didn't mesh with their team sponsorships, JV comes to mind. So if Flavio wants to know what Bridgestones are like, he can go buy a few sets.

Michelin is right, though. There should be no exclusive suppliers in F1. In any part of the vehicle. Fewer rules, open supply lines.

In fact, why not really push the tech envelope and run a 'formula libre'. The only rules would be length and width regulations for starting grid and pit stall purposes, and minimum weight less driver and fuel of 500kg. Why lighten the ar 100kg? Because everything you add to a car to increase performance has weight and mass. Active suspensions and it's required hardware add weight. Turbine engines would create packaging concerns. So forth and so on. So each team woulld have their own witches' brew of a car.

Better yet, Manchild and I could take on Bernie and Max in a bare-knuckle boxing match for control of the FIA....tequila and pit passes for all!!!!!!!

I can understand Flavio'a concerns. Just a while ago I heard a believable rumor that Shu is working on a two year contract, but in this contract is the stipulation that Bridgestone still give Ferrari (and thus Shu) preferential treatment. In essence, manufacture tires excluvisely for Ferrari's neeeds.
Some kind of safeguards have to be in place to protect all the teams equally on the tire issue. If not there will be one spec tire, but that rubber will work incredibly well on the Ferrari.

Surely that cannot happen, something like that could bring the entire sport into disrepute!

How would it look for F1 (a sport already trying to improve its global image) provides better tires for one team on the sole basis that one of their drivers happens to be Michael Schumacher.

Thats diabolical. As much as I love F1, if that were to happen I'd switch off.

Well it has happened before with this same cast. This was the main reason why teams like william, Mclaren etc defected as soon as Michelin came back.

Not only has it happened in the past, heck it's still going on today. Just look at the standings, the only Bridgestone cars in the top ten are Ferrari.
