Yeah, there's a certain amount of radii your allowed. I can't remember how much though 20mm/25mm or something like that.

The thing I find funny is that people are telling me what's on MY floor like I've never seen it before.

The radii is 50mm for the step plane and 25mm for the reference plane. The floor does count as bodywork because article 3.12 states that bodywork facing the ground must lie on either the step plane or the reference plane (3.12.4 details the radii), and 3.12.10 is the rule which bans cutouts or holes in the floor

This floor setup is ILLEGAL.

The problem is, as LegendaryM has said, if you intersect longitudinally or laterally, there must be one continuous line.


I will now prove that with this floor, this is definitely not the case.




The floor has a similar shape to yours. The red line shows an intersection on a longitudinal line. There are two lines, not one continous line, rendering the floor illegal.

As legendaryM said, this was legal back in 2009, when the Mclaren had it, but was banned in 2011 as part of the clampdown on DDD's.

just remove the little bit in front of the tyre and make the cutout less deep and it will be legal again

That wouldn't get more air under the floor though would it? This cutout is supposed to act like a slot gap I think. Without the bit ahead of the tire it not longer performs that role IMO.

You're allowed holes in the very outer side of the floor.

When viewed from beneath, it is one continous line, in both longitudinal and lateral planes.

If this ruling were to included vertical planes, they'd ban the slots.
