Bahrain is quite reliably hot though - I doubt there would be surprising changes of temperature

I does cool a few degrees into the evening though doesn't it? So for the race the temperatures could change to a significant degree (for an F1 car).

Some interesting info from the FIA website - "McLaren go into this race holding a lead in both championships but Bahrain has not been a race at which they have prospered in the past, having neither a victory nor a pole position at BIC."

Mercedes for pole?

Raikkonen was the only one to lap under the 1:40... but I don't know...
The E20 were always fast in race trim anyway

Anyone notice if Michael was running with the extra intake/scoop that Nico was running with last weekend?

Raikkonen - 33 laps - best time: 1:35.183 - 13th best time
Grosjean - 32 laps - best time: 1:34.615 - 9th best time

Even if the temperature is relatively stable... In China, we saw a 2 degree drop and suddenly everybody was 5 tenths slower, except rosberg who got out and put in a flyer before it cooled.

Aha... sorry my bad. I'd like to see the timings of that too. The mercs as well.

Funny enough it was the same today in P2 where he set his time relatively early, then the temps started to come down and noone was anywhere near.

However, it's all about what the teams were actually doing at the time, which we have no knowledge of.

Button:

"This year is not shaping up like others of recent seasons. I really don't think there is one team that's out ahead of the rest. Get it just a little bit wrong and you can fall a long way down. It's all about how you get the tyres working and that's far from straightforward."
