And is there any guarantee they always get the same spec under the same color strip?

Q: You seemed to have a bit of a moment towing Kamui when he pitted?

Alonso: I saw Kamui was going in and I thought that for 100 or 200 metres I could tow him and then I activate the DRS so that I'd gain a couple of tenths on the lap. Unfortunately there was so much dust that it was a surprise! When I arrived at Turn 1, what I'd won on the straight in terms of lap time, I lost in Turn 1 with the tyres not in good condition. It was not a good moment!

You often hear drivers say that they were happier with a particular set of tyres, maybe its due to different heat cycles, or maybe there is some variation within a production run.

Or you could put it as a lottery, which is a joke for F1 standards...

Bring back Bridgestone and Michelin. The tyre wars were excellent.

As a small anecdote - I chased him down in the paddock once - and as I called him out, he looked at my direction with his Oakley shades, smiled, waved, and jogged away. He kept periodically looking back to see if I was still pursuing him, which I was, but the smile was always there. He finally stopped, smiled, put his hands on his hips and looked at me. I caught up. All I wanted was a photograph together and an autograph.

As I was brandishing my autograph book and a pen - he said cheekily, "I just wanted to see if you were willing to chase me to get the photo."

He's a great guy Kimi. His nonchalance I feel should not be misconstrued as inarticulateness - he just can't be bothered to talk to the media.
Where was that?
I really wish i could meet him someday....

Hummph. I don't remember to be honest. I think it was either in 08 or 09 - possibly either Singapore, Sepang or Monza

Webber sustained damage to the floor of his car during the race. This obviously hurt his chances to have a good finish.

Webber was off the pace from the beginning though, so when did he sustain this damage?

Apparently Webber's since said his KERS stopped workin after couple of laps - but it came back to life. Didn't hear about the damage though.

I think Button was just finding it hard to handle the car - the McLaren seemed to be somewhat ill-balanced based off radio comments, and I think that thres him off as usual. He was saying something like even though he was having understeer, he was having trouble with the rear.

As in it's his usual issue of being off the pace when the car is imbalanced rather than some fault or damage.
