The W03 method is said to be driven by a desire to balance the car by blowing the front wing at the same time as the rear wing.
I can imagine that a team that didn't have concerns about balance or tyre wear might use the DDRS to reduce drag in another area for a greater benefit. The idea of blowing the exhaust off the diffuser sounds appealing. If the exhaust has a dramatic effect on downforce, so it must have an impact on the drag. I guess one can't create extra downforce without some extra drag? So one can imagine switching the exhaust like an f-duct between a high downforce configuration and a low drag configuration.
The other thing is that blowing the front wing is limited by the air supply compared to the large intake above the airbox on the original F-duct. However the side pods have a very big air supply, some of which could be diverting with a fluidic switch from the front wing. Of course that would need
ducts, have we seen any?
