Toro Rosso STR7 Ferrari

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Could be that they run the new Ferrari gearbox now like Sauber.

Is it a Ferrari box, like Sauber? Or is it Red Bull Technology?
I believe it's a Ferrari box, but don't quote me.
Its a bespoke STR gear case for the Ferrari 056 power train mounting points, however, the internals are what was used in the RB6 as the RB7/RB8 internals are bespoke for the Renault engine and Red Bull KERS systsm. However when i say the same RB6 internals, i mean updated as well, whitch i suppose means simmilar.

I was watching FP1 and looking at the spray, it looked like the step was shooting air right into the airbox. Perhaps it's not such an 'unaerodynamic' solution as first appears?

Doesn't the airbox get more than adequate air flow anyway? If the airflow pattern you observed is accurate, perhaps it is feeding more flow to the intake beneath the airbox (was it for oil or KERS or what?).

Or it is keeping some air clear of the driver head area and reducing drag as a result.

The car uses a single piece for the engine cover and sidepods, no?
How on Earth do they get it on with the undercut? Do they build the radiators inside the CF sidepod covers and attach them together?

I think you cann see multiple sections, a "cut" goes from the upper suspension arm to the front of the car. Also notice a cut betweeb "Red Bull" and "Speed Week" on the sidepod.

Wow. THose are looking more and more like a front-mounted diffuser rather than a front wing. Even the curved endplate looks sort of like a gurney to help extraction.

I was just thinking half an hour ago that the Toro Rosso double floor design was seemingly made for this concept.
